Pineapple Upside Down Cherry Smash Cake! September 2, 2013

     Pineapple Upside Down Cherry Smash Cake!     Do you like Pineapple Upside Down Cake?  Well, here is a tasty twist that turns an ordinary yellow cake mix into something so good!  Serve warm or cold!  It's a totally smashing cake that's sure to make you family smile!

What you'll need:  Yellow Cake Mix (mixed according to package directions).  Mix cake per instructions on package.

Next, 1/2 cup butter (melted) 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup maple syrup.  Mix those ingredients with a fork, and pour that sticky brown mixture into the bottom of your  9 x 13 pan.

Next Step:  I used a can of crushed pineapple for this cake, so next, evenly spread the crushed pineapple across the top of the brown sugar mixture.  Pour prepared cake batter over the top of the pineapples.  

Last Step:  Open a can of cherry pie filling, and spoon it across the top of the cake.  As the cake bakes, the cherries sink down into the batter. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes.  When cake is done, let it sit for about 10 minutes.  Flip out onto serving tray.  Serve warm or chilled.
